Quality of Life Forum: Health Recap
Attendance we lower than expected at this event as we were experience record low temperatures. A tentative 2nd round event is scheduled for late March. Below is some of the feedback/input we received from the those in attendance.
What hurdles do you see regarding the future of health?
Not enough cross-communication between healthcare organizations/clinics
Language interpretation issues.
No 911 for mental health de-escalation
What opportunities do you see regarding the future of health?
Leaders who are more compassionate about people and community
Technology improvements
Owen’s Outfitters and similar organizations
What is not being discussed regarding health?
Addiction and mental health
Education about insurance coverages to clients/parents
Addiction being treated as a legal issue when its an actual medical issue
The effect of pre-authorizations on patient treatment plan
What variables could impact the future of health?
Legal limitations on alternative forms of medical access outside of mainstream hospital
Community outreach
Walking with people who are from low-income families, refugees, Native Americans.
What do you hope happens with health in the next 20 years?
Healthcare to be free or at an all-time low cost in the US.
Compassionate and more culturally competent leaders in healthcare.
